Chinese Apple Dumpling Recipe

Chinese Apple Dumpling Recipe



1 lb. ground pork, chicken, shrimp, or a mixture of all 3. 

Season salt and pepper to taste.  

add 1/2 tsp five-spice powder

1/2 tsp sesame oil for a sweet version.

2 pkg frozen dumplings 

4 dozen homemade from scratch Chinese dumplings(Chinese Dumpling Recipe).

1 medium-size or 1 small red apple

3 tbsps of apple cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar

2 pinches of salt


1. With the help of a knife, slice two apples into small pieces. You might boil an apple to make it soft or simmer it overheat for a while. Put the slices of the boiled apples through a strainer to remove any hard bits such as sticks and seeds. When they are clean, put them in a bowl with one cup of water and let them stand for 20 minutes before you start assembling the dumplings. Remove the apples from their liquid and set them aside. Now you can begin making all your dumpling filling!

2. Heat two tablespoons of corn syrup with one cup of water in a saucepan over low heat. Put the corn syrup water mixture on the stove.

3. Combine five eggs with sugar and about half a cup of flour in a bowl. Mix everything together well with your hands until it is smooth. This mixture will be used to hold the dumpling filling together.

4. Put this mae dumpling filling mixture into each of the wrappers for dumplings, about one-tenth full. Seam them closed by folding them on their edges.

5. Put a teaspoon of the boiled apples in each dumpling. Roll them up tightly, pressing them together as you go along.

6. Before putting the dumplings into their wrappers, make sure they are dry and free of any water spots or juice from the meat you have previously peeled from the apple slices. In this method, it is very efficient to squeeze each dumpling open gently with your hand before putting it into its wrapper to let out any excess moisture from inside.

7. Seam the edges of each wrapper closed with a toothpick or a needle and string.
