Pasta with Bacon Cream Sauce Recipe

Bacon and cream cheese give this pasta dish a rich, creamy sauce that is bursting with flavor. I love to serve it with a sprinkling of fresh spinach—or dare I say, kale? It's a light dinner for a day when you want something a little more luxurious than usual.

Pasta with Bacon Cream Sauce Recipe

-1 pound long noodles

-6 ounces bacon

-3/4 cup cream cheese

-1 onion, chopped

-2 garlic cloves, minced  -2 tablespoons butter or olive oil

-Salt and pepper to taste

Dice the bacon into small pieces and fry in a pan over medium heat until crispy. Drain and crumble it into little pieces.

work time: Slice the bacon

Add the butter or olive oil to the pan, then add the onion and cook until soft and translucent. Next, add in the garlic and cook for a few more minutes. Then add the cream cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stirring constantly over low heat, blend all of these ingredients together in order to create a creamy consistency.

cook time: Boil water for pasta

Bring another pot of water to a boil—salted if you like—and then add in your noodles. I like to use Barilla brand noodles because they are long and spirally—great for twirling. Boil the noodles until they are al dente.

work time: Mix pasta, bacon cream sauce, spinach

Drain the water from your noodles, dumping them into the frying pan with the creamy sauce. Crumble in the bacon and mix everything together. Serve immediately with a sprinkling of fresh spinach or kale on top—or maybe even both?

cook time: Serve!

Notes: Try not to overcook your pasta in step 2, since this will result in more time spent waiting for your creamy spaghetti to cool off so that it can be mixed with the hot pasta.
