Brigadeiro cake is a popular dessert in Brazil that is inspired by the traditional Brazilian candy known as Brigadeiro. It is a multi-layered cake that is typically made with chocolate sponge cake or chocolate mud cake and filled with brigadeiro ganache or brigadeiro filling. The outside of the cake is usually coated with chocolate ganache or rolled in chocolate sprinkles to give it a distinctive look. The cake is then garnished with extra brigadeiros, chocolate shavings, or other decorative elements. The end result is a rich, chocolatey, and indulgent dessert that is perfect for any chocolate lover.

The origin

Brigadeiro is a traditional Brazilian sweet that is thought to have originated in the 1940s. It is named after Brigadeiro Tucci, a Brazilian political candidate. The sweet is made from condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter, which are combined and rolled into small balls, then coated with chocolate sprinkles. Brigadeiros are a popular dessert in Brazil and are commonly served at celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and other special occasions. They are also often served as part of the famous Brazilian dessert table, known as "mesa de does."

SILKY SMOOTH BRIGADEIRO CAKE FROSTING & FILLING

Silky smooth brigadeiro frosting and filling is a popular variation of the traditional brigadeiro sweet. It is made by combining condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter, and cooking it until it thickens into a creamy, smooth mixture. This mixture is then used as a frosting or filling for cakes, cupcakes, and other baked goods. The texture is smooth and creamy, and the flavor is rich and chocolatey, making it a favorite among those who love brigadeiros. To make silky smooth brigadeiro frosting or filling, it is important to use high-quality cocoa powder and to cook the mixture until it reaches the desired consistency. It can be flavored with vanilla or other extracts, or even with ingredients like nuts or coconut to add extra texture and flavor.

How To Make Brigadeiro Cake

Ingredients:

  • For the cake layers:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • For the brigadeiro frosting or filling:

  • 1 can sweeten condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate sprinkles, for rolling

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pans with butter and flour.

Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, baking powder, and cocoa powder in a sizable mixing dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk, hot water, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Stirring occasionally, add the wet components in little amounts to the dry ingredients. Between the two prepared cake pans, distribute the batter equally. A toothpick put into the center of the cake should come out clean after baking for 30 to 35 minutes. The cakes should cool in the pans for 10 minutes before being taken out and placed on a wire rack to finish cooling.

To make the brigadeiro frosting or filling, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture starts to come away from the sides of the pan.

Turn off the heat and let the room cool. Then, refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm enough to roll into balls.

Roll the brigadeiro mixture into small balls and roll each ball in chocolate sprinkles.

Assemble and decorate the cake as described in my previous answers.

Enjoy your delicious brigadeiro cake!
